(Almost) 1 year later

While the family was in town this weekend, Mom wanted to stop by the church we got married at since they haven't been in Dallas since the wedding. It was very nostalgic and we took a picture to commemorate the occasion. I can't believe we have (almost) been married 1 year!

and I love him more than ever :)

Headin' South!

We are moving SOUTH!

wayyyy south to be exact!

Fort Lauderdale, Florida will be our new home as of July 2nd. Crazy right!?! God has been so faithful in orchestrating all the details of our move down there and we could not be more excited to now BOTH call south Florida, home. This is Dwight's hometown and he is thrilled to be coming back.

I am a Texas girl born and bred so you better believe I will be brining my Texas roots along with me! I'm afraid that the "Texas pride" may come out in full force now that I won't be living there anymore and I'll feel the need to make sure that people know what my REAL heritage is! Come Feburary when its Texas Independance month, we WILL be flying the Texas flag from our front porch.

which brings me to our next THRILLING news...

As of June 14 2012, The Rogers are officially home owners! We can't believe we have a place to call "ours" and look forward to all the memories that will be made in this little place. I'll be posting pictures periodically of the changes will be making to the house. Fortunately, the house is literally in tip top shape considering the fact that it was built in the 1930's. We will just be doing some minor things here and there as we gradually dip our toes into the waters of the "DIY" world.

This weekend, we are hosting my family for one last weekend in Dallas. We have a few fun things on the agenda like going to see Jersey Boys and of course, playing some Top Golf. Once they leave Sunday, its game time for packing. Ugh, there's just no way around it, packing is definitely one of the worst things. Then starts the cross country trip in the Uhaul. Say a prayer for Dwight as he is our captain driving the truck the entire way as I follow behind in the car. We'll be making good memories doing this, right?!

The Head and the Heart

Spending this slow Friday at work listening to every single song this band has on youtube as my background music. I love this one in particular for its haunting vocals, simple melodies and cool cinematography.

I love maps!

so I have a strange fascination with maps and all things geography. Literally, i love looking at and studying maps. Call me a nerd if you want to but I have a pretty darn good sense of direction because of this!

Dwight affectionately calls me "map girl." So endearing, right?

So today, I found the cutest vintagae maps of Florida and Texas on etsy. I have been talking about getting something like this for awhile and stumbled across these today and snatched them up!

I can't wait for these lovlies to come in the mail. I plan on framing them in big white frames and hanging them in our new house...thats right NEW HOUSE! more on that next time!

The Masters, Fried Green Tomatoes and Easter

(I started working on this post over a month ago and am just now posting it...hopefully this will not be a recurring trend!)

This past Thursday, Dwight and I went to Atlanta for a long weekend to spend Easter with family and go to The Masters for a day. I've not spent much time in Georgia but definitely feel much more well aqauinted with the Peach State now that we literally drove all over it in the 4 days we were there.

We stayed at Aunt Pippy's lake house on Lake Oconee. She recommended that we eat at this local place called "The Silver Moon" and oh my goodness, I could not stop making "mmmmm!!!" noises the entire time I was eating! SO good. Dwight had the ribs (always a winner) and I had the pamesean crusted grouper with grits. We finished it off by sharing chocolate coconut pecan pie and strawberry short cake. Honestly some of the best food I have ever had.
the "kids" at The Silver Moon

Since we were about an hour away from Augusta, we woke up bright and early at 5:30 AM...my favorite time of the day ;). This was my first time to go to The Masters and I felt so priveledged to be able to attend as that I have since learned that these are not easy tickets to come by! Dwight has been several times before and has told me how amazing Augusta National is so I was anxious to experience it for myself and let me tell you, I was blown away. I never expected that a golf course could be so perfect! Everything was so clean and everyone was beyond nice and accomodating. Unfortunately you are not allowed to bring cameras or cell phones into the property, so I don't have any pictures to share. They had the best little pimento cheese, egg salad and BBQ sandwiches and of course, sweet tea! Prior to Dwight being in my life, I knew nothing about golf and honestly thought it was quite boring. He has helped me develop an appreciation for it as well as know more about the players which has made it more enjoyable for me to watch with him...every Sunday :)

We walked the entire day and as a result, got a killer workout. We were all pretty sore the next day but it was totally worth it! I didn't want to miss anything and I think Dwight was surprised with how in to it I was! Needless to say, I have definitely caught the golf bug and hope to return to Masters as many times as we can!

Saturday, we drove to Tifton where my mother-in-law Candace is from to spend Easter with her parents. We stopped in the tiny...TINY (only 2 bathrooms in the entire place!) town of Juliette, Georgia to eat lunch at the Whistlestop Cafe. This is were the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed so of course, we helped ourselves to their speciality of friend green tomatoes and other delicious southern  delicies such as fried okra and purple hull peas. The weather could not have been more perfect so we ate outside on a picnic table under a big oak tree. My southern loving heart was in heaven!

Sunday was Easter and it is by far my favorite "holiday" of the year. The foundation of our faith is centered around the resurection of Christ and without it, everything would be meaningless. It was wonderful to be able to spend it in Tifton with my new set of grandparents and wonderful in-laws. I have truly been blessed with the best family I married into and am so grateful for how they love me.

First things first

Hi there!

I'm Blaire<formerly Blanchette and now>Rogers.

I used to have a blog that donned my former last name that I wrote about my thoughts, travels and escapades during my college years but since the love of my heart gave me a pretty ring and a new last name, I thought it was time to update the ol' blog and start fresh with a spiffy new URL and all.

I've been Blaire Rogers for about 8 months now and never been happier.

We live in Dallas, Texas

He likes golf. Watching, playing, and thinking about playing.

I like to read wedding/design blogs and pin things on pinterest.

We both like to eat good food, travel to new places and lazy Saturdays that include chocolate chip pancakes. We also like change, college football and a good glass of southern sweet tea.

We are also as passionate about Jesus Christ and try to live our lives in a way that honors him.

I'm sure our mom's will be our most dedicated readers and biggest fans :)

Y'all stay sweet!
